They’re known for their covers of songs by musicians such as Jason Mraz, Andrew Allen, the Eagles and Maroon 5. They even sing Adele.

Kyle plays acoustic guitar, Benjamin plays piano and both handle the vocals.

The 13-year-old fraternal twins, born 10 minutes apart, impressed folks at a pizza parlor in May and parlayed that into shows at venues from The District in Tustin all the way down to Seaport Village in San Diego.

They played their first Laguna gig last year at Hennessey’s Tavern, followed up by a show at the Sawdust Festival.

They’ve written an original song called “California Ain’t That Far” – about their 2009 move from Austin, Texas, and are currently working on a song in memory of the Newtown, Conn., shooting called “Enough is Enough.”

“I love the story the song tells,” Kyle said, when describing his love of music. “This is kind of our way to express our feelings.”

Benjamin loves seeing the audience’s reaction.

“I love seeing them smile when I smile,” he said.

Kyle picked up his first guitar when he was 2 years old and hasn’t put it down. Home videos show the two brothers forming the beginnings of their band as toddlers, ending the show with, “Thanks for coming to our show,” Kyle said.

Although they pay a fee to perform at the Spectrum, they’ve been contacted to do shows privately and that brings in a little money.

The Thurston Middle School students also get the rock-star treatment from the ladies. Benjamin recalled one instance where a girl emailed them about offering to be their girlfriend, listing off her ability to cook and clean. They also get numbers on dollars dropped in their tip jars.

“It’s a very nice compliment, but we’re not into that,” he said.

Their next shows take place at 1 p.m. March 17 at the Irvine Spectrum, noon March 23 at the Citadel Outlets in Los Angeles, and 10:30 a.m. April 13 at the OC Fairgrounds.
